OUR STORY
Our farm Meeting Place Pastures was founded in 2009 in Cornwall, VT. We bought our first sheep in 2014 and have been raising them ever since. We started to look at the sheep industry in another way when we visited our local butcher and found that there were sheep hides piled up for disposal. Our sheepskin production was created out of a desire to add value to the supply chain and minimize unnecessary waste.
Meanwhile, most of the textiles used in our daily life –blankets, cushions, throw rugs, etc. are made from oil-based synthetic fibers and produced in countries that exploit human labor. Today only 2% of our textiles are produced in the US. There are problems inherent in a global supply chain, which have only become more apparent. We believe we can be a part of a hopeful picture of the possibilities of a truly sustainable fiber system.
The goal of Koselig Land & Living is to utilize the ‘waste’ hides, add value through natural tanning, and provide a sustainable, ethical and safe sheepskin product in the marketplace, giving people a product they can trust and feel good about bringing into their homes.
